JANAE TOBIA
A bit about me.
As a northern New Jersey native, I have always been exposed to a fast-paced, exhilarating lifestyle. I am an assertive and outspoken young professional, eager to experience the world. Penn State University has only strengthened my individuality, giving me endless opportunities to flourish.
During my time at Penn State, I was able to manage a dual major, along with extracurricular activities and a part-time job, all while maintaining a 3.8 cumulative GPA.
Along with my studies, I worked with Penn State’s Office of Annual Giving as a student fundraiser for Penn State Academics. Using cold-calling methods, I established strong conversation and maintained relationships with PSU alumni, family and friends. I raised a total of $20,000 as a student representative
I enjoyed my broadcast experience with THON 46Live, Hollywood Now, B94.5 Radio, and ComRadio. As a Public Relations/Social Media intern at “O, The Oprah Magazine”, I was given access to high-profile O products, sat in on editorial conference meetings, and met with the Creative Director of O to revise and submit social media posts pertaining to the magazine. My written and verbal communication skills, as well as my time management skills, have been enhanced due to these experiences.

I take pride in my affiliation with Sigma Kappa sorority, an organization that has helped strengthen myself as a leader among others. As a recruitment committee member, I trained newly initiated members on recruiting techniques, stressed the importance of our values, and recruited through all rounds of Penn State’s formal recruitment process, connecting with over 1,000 potential new members. As Sigma Kappa's Public Relations chairwoman, I was responsible for promptly updating and promoting our chapter's social media platforms. I was also required to facilitate monthly PR campaigns aimed at gaining campus-wide and national support.
I am proud to have worked with some of the most amazing collegiate students and professionals. I am now prepared to apply my skills to a more professional setting. I will be working with Insight Global come June, and look foward to advancing my communication and networking skills, collaborating with others, and growing internally within the company.
